Mission
To support the Chester One City Plan by building a thriving business community, and to foster our coworkers’ wellbeing whilst protecting and enhancing nature.
Methodology
We will analyse and illustrate our business’s priorities across nature, business, wellbeing, and social impact to achieve a more sustainable way of working.
Nature
To protect and enhance nature, we have collected baseline data on our carbon emissions and waste sent to landfill. We have also made our building and its grounds more friendly to wildlife.
Our Carbon Emissions
Between 1st May 2021 and 5th April 2022 we emitted 20.89 tCO2e.

Enhancing and protecting local wildlife
We have surrounded our premises in the RSPB’s bird friendly hedging. The hedging provides food for birds in the form of berries, seeds, and sloes, whilst also providing dense foliage that’s perfect for nesting sites.
The hedging also improves the aesthetics of our site with its beautiful summer flowers and rich autumn colours.
Business
Industry Coworking Chester is a hub for local businesses to operate from, we have already achieved our goal of building a thriving community of small businesses. Therefore, we have a duty to protect our community’s long-term viability.
We are delighted to report that we are close to reaching our capacity to take on new co-workers. Therefore, we are integrating our long-term plans for growth with our carbon reduction strategy. When the time comes for us to move our community to a newer, more energy-efficient building, we will choose a bigger space with capacity to support more local businesses.
In 2023 we reluctantly raised our subscription prices in response to increased energy bills. However, this will preserve the long-term viability of our community.
In 2024 we are moving to a new space, we have given notice to our current landlord.
Wellbeing
We are proud that our building is a safe, inclusive space where everyone is welcome, and we offer many perks and social activities that enhance our community’s well-being.
We scheduled events in 2023 to enhance the well-being of our coworkers.

Conduct a wellbeing survey in 2024 to inform our wellbeing activities
Implement a formal wellbeing policy based on the survey
Social impact
The community we have built is supporting the Chester One City Plan’s vision for Chester to become ‘Britain’s most vibrant historic city driving a dynamic legacy for future generations. Our business model is consistent with all four of the Plan’s Themes.
With longer term aims to move to bigger premiss will strengthen our support of the Chester One City Plan because we will draw more of the local business to the city centre that are vital for its reinvigoration.
